Appreciation for Scholarship Advocacy Success for Myanmar Students Affected by Earthquake

  The PNU Myanmar Alumni Association Central Executive Committee (CEC), led by President Ko Min Khant Naing and Vice President Ma Aye Chan Pwint Phyu, formally requested the PNU International Office to establish a scholarship selection process to support Myanmar students affected by the earthquake that struck in March 2025. As a result of this collaborative effort, all nine undergraduate Myanmar students who applied for the scholarship were successfully awarded financial support. We extend our sincere appreciation to the PNU International Office for their prompt and compassionate response. Their commitment to advocating for the students whose homes were damaged by the earthquake, and their careful consideration of the relief report, made this outcome possible. PNU Myanmar Alumni – Sagaing Earthquake Relief Fundraising Campaign

On March 28, 2025, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck near Sagaing, Myanmar resulting in loss of hundreds of lives and destruction of houses and monumental buildings throughout the country. PNU Myanmar Alumni Association(Central Executive Committee) was organized a few days before the Sagaing Earthquake and our committee’s first activity was to provide urgent immediate assistance to the people affected by the earthquake.   Launched on March 31, the “Sagaing Earthquake Relief Fundraising Campaign” collected over 2 million KRW through the Gyeongnam Myanmar Community  (경남미얀마교민화) bank account. PNU Myanmar Alumni Association members produced pamphlets and posted them on bulletin boards in their respective departments to raise awareness. PNU Myanmar Alumni Association Hosts Knowledge-Sharing Seminar for LEI Students On May 30, 2025, the PNU Myanmar Alumni Association hosted a knowledge-sharing seminar to support current students enrolled at the Language Education Institute (LEI) of Pusan National University.The seminar aimed to help students prepare for university life after completing their language program. The event began with introductions from the association’s CEC ( central executive committee) teams. Representatives from the Event Team, Digital Team, and Finance Team took turns presenting the roles, responsibilities, and upcoming initiatives of their respective teams, helping students better understand the organization and objectives of the PNU Myanmar Alumni Association. "Shwe Yin Aye" Fundraising Event/ "쉐이 인 에이" 기금 마련 행사 (2025.5.18)

On May 18th 2025, our association hosted a special activity by selling a Burmese Traditional dessert called “Shwe Yin Aye” to our fellow PNU Myanmar students. We also participated in the Together Day Festival held at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office in Changwon City to sell this very dessert.    Shwe Yin Aye is a coconut-based dessert which is enjoyed by Burmese people commonly during the Thingyan Water Festival in April. We believed that selling this dessert would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate Thingyan and bring our Burmese Students together.   We are deeply thankful to Myanmar Students at PNU and the members of the Myanmar Community who stopped by our booth and supported the fundraising sale at the Together Day Festival. Every purchase meant a huge meaningful contribution for our association. We also would like to appreciate the members of the PNU Myanmar Alumni - Central Executive Committee (CEC) who helped plan and prepare the Burmese dessert. PNU Myanmar Alumni Association Organizational Chart

PNU Myanmar Alumni Association is organized into four core teams that collaboratively manage the association’s activities and initiatives, under the direction of the Student President & Vice President, who were elected by the PNU Myanmar students. These include: Event Organizing Team, responsible for cultural and social activities that foster engagement and unity among Myanmar Students.  Information and Communication Team, primarily responsible for acting as the spokesperson for the Student Association, sharing important updates, and maintaining public relations with other organizations. Digital Media Team, which manages our online presence, including social media platforms and digital content creation, to enhance engagement. Finance Team, in charge of budgeting, fundraising, and financial coordination for sustainable operations. This chart presents the members of each team and their designated roles within the association.

[Knowledge Sharing Session] 3회 부산대 미얀마 학생들을 위한 학업 지원 이벤트

The third knowledge-sharing session was held on January 23rd, 2025 virtually. The speaker, a PhD student in the department of Economics, possesses extensive experience in Korean culture. She discussed job websites that offer graduate job opportunities. Additionally, she addressed challenges faced by foreign students due to language barriers and communication difficulties with professors. Many foreign students abandon their scholarships or withdraw from studies due to these challenges. The speaker expressed a warm welcome to all freshmen and juniors and offered free consultations on education and career matters.

The second knowledge session was held on December 20, 2025, in the seminar room of the PNU International Office. The speaker was an exceptional student who achieved a GPA of 4.5 and ranked first in the Department of Food and Nutrition. He shared valuable insights into scholarships and study strategies. Additionally, he provided information on extracurricular activities and volunteering programs available in Korea. These insights are particularly beneficial for freshmen and juniors who are unfamiliar with the university lifestyle in Korea.
